Pulled out of retirement by a distress call from former flame Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden), Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) enlists the help of Captain Riker (Jonathan Frakes) and sets out to save the day. He ends up discovering, however, a conspiracy that reaches the furthest corners of the Federation and the return of an old enemy, long considered defeated.
All ships will, at some point, veer off course. They get lost in a nebula, get sucked into an area of space, or get attacked by Klingons. With regard to deviations, the second season of Picard was great. The series started in a way that promised to deliver a good job to viewers, but it wasn't quite like that. There were recycled ideas and some pretty crazy plots.
The third season, however, brings a significant correction and a lot of gems. She is a final attempt to recover emotions.
We have the return of Beverly, Geordie (LeVar Burton) and Worf (Michael Dorn), which is understood that, except for Wesley Cursher, all the Enterprise MVPs are back on the bridge. And it's to the benefit of now solo showrunner Terry Matalas that radiating this old-school Next Gen feels organic, each one joining the ongoing goal of a different point in the story and moving forward - not stopping - while making it happen.

Relationships
Picard's past relationships with Jurati, Rios, Soji, and others failed to shine through in the first two seasons, the chemistry failing. However, with nearly all of Picard's new characters now on the sidelines, there's room for Starfleet legends to take center stage, and the effect is a shakeout. Every Soslaio exchange and look carries the weight of several seasons, four films and countless novels, games and comics - the amount of experience that defines the phrase: 'feel' with surprising potency. Relationships have weight and history, bringing rich human emotion. Hearing how the Enterprise crew split up shortly after the events of Star Trek: Nemesis strikes into focus like a well-placed photon torpedo, and seeing the genuine pain in Picard's eyes when confronting Beverly Crushes rings true in a way that your flirting with the housekeeper Laris never happened.

The plot, however, manages to target a mysterious signal, a technological enemy and varieties of unexplained marvelous interstellar phenomena.
The news
There are new faces mixed with old ones - Ed Speleers' Solo-esque space villain is a welcome addition, as is Todd Stashwick's Captain Shaw.
This is Picard's strongest season yet - one last trip to the final frontier with the men and women who charted it. All cool things come to an end, but it's hard to know that we're saying goodbye to Picard just as we know we've started to get involved.
